My Journey into the Healing Arts
As a small child I would commune with the energy flow of nature. My father taught me the ancient Chinese massage art of Tuina where the flow of Chi energy, or life force, is fundamental. In my twenties falling in love with crystals was my next foray into the healing arts. I created a session where I would place a crystal or stone on the associated chakra, creating mandalas, symmetry and designs. The crown on the experience was seeing your peaceful face and body mirrored back in semi-precious gems and crystals. Next I learned Reiki, off-the-body healing using symbols and the energy released from the hands. I went as high as Rieki Master. In Honolulu I studied and worked with Lily Siou, an escapee from Mainland China who was a master in Chi Kung and acupuncture. She also taught me Tuina.
I eventually went to a school called Heartwood in Northern California, high up in the redwoods. It was here that I was certified as a Wholistic Health Practitioner. The modalities included, Reichian Massage, a body/mind approach, Swedish, Deep Tissue, Shiatsu, Polarity, Hydro-therapy, Bach Flowers and Nutrition
I was also introduced to Watsu at the school, which is a form of shiatsu practiced in warm water. It is also known as Water-Shiatsu. I later became a practitioner of Watsu and several other water massage techniques. This is my favourite of modality of all.
After having all of this under my belt, I created a massage sequence which I wrote a small book on and taught whilst living in South America. I was finally able to purchase the e-Lybra system, which is a bio-resonance machine.
